Assistance

Learn how to search hadiths, explore related themes, read books and study chains of transmission with Hujja.

Start with the navigation menu

Open the menu at the top of the screen to move between tools. Start with Search if you have a phrase or a question, Semantics if you want to explore a theme, or Books if you already know your source. You can return to this guide from Assistance at any time. Choose your interface language in Settings; the language links above let you read this guide in another language.

Semantics

Explore groups of related hadiths, from broad themes to more specific subjects.

Open page
  1. Choose a view and a theme

Switch between Nodal view for a visual map and List view for a tree. Open a group to explore its children. Use the breadcrumb path to return to a broader theme. A leaf group opens the hadith reader because it has no further child groups.

  2. Narrow the exploration

Choose the books to include and filter the current and next semantic levels by title. Outside the Arabic interface, Translate displays available group titles in your interface language. Some titles may remain in Arabic when no translation is available.

  3. Search across all groups

Open Search clusters to search beyond the current level. Refine by collection, semantic level, branch or leaf type, and hadith count; you can also include outliers and change the sort order. Open a result to continue exploring that group.

  4. Read and share a group

In a leaf group, read its hadiths and use the available passage actions to open their source or explore similar hadiths. Share links to the selected group and preserves the chosen view, title-translation option and book filters.

Books

Read the available collections and place a passage in context.

Open page
  1. Open a collection

Select a book from Books to open its reader. The details control shows available information about the author, edition and review status. If offered, Continue returns you to your last saved reading position in that book.

  2. Move through the book

Scroll to read the surrounding text. Use Go to… to reach a hadith number or a heading, and the Kitab, Bab and Section controls to navigate the available structure. Search in book opens a search scoped to that collection.

  3. Act on a passage

Open a hadith’s actions to search for similar passages, send it to Sanad or add a bookmark. Selecting text reveals Search this so you can search the selected wording. When sending to Sanad, choose an existing view or create a new one.

  4. Return with bookmarks

Open Go to bookmarks to find a saved passage. Search bookmarks, select one to preview it, then open it in the reader. You can rename or delete bookmarks. Bookmarks and reading positions are stored in this browser; use the same browser to find them again.

Sanad

Build an interactive view of transmission chains and compare narrations.

Open page
  1. Insert your first hadith

Choose Insert Hadith, select a collection, and optionally narrow by Kitab, Bab or Section. Enter a hadith number or browse the available hadiths, then insert one. You can also send a hadith from the book reader to a Sanad view.

  2. Explore the graph

Pan and zoom to follow the chains; Fit graph brings the whole view into frame. Double-click a narrator’s name to consult available information, or a matn to read the full hadith. Insert more hadiths into the same view to compare their chains.

  3. Organize your study

Use the view tabs to create, rename or close separate studies. The source list lets you focus on or remove a hadith. Open View options from Graph actions to adjust the display and grouping of the graph.

  4. Export and report

Use Share for an image, or Export to choose PNG or PDF and capture the full graph or current viewport. Chain representations can contain errors: compare them with the source and use Report an error when you notice an incorrect representation.

Settings

Adapt the interface and reading display to your needs.

About / Contact

Understand the project, contact us and consult the privacy policy.

Open page
  1. Read About

The About tab explains Hujja’s semantic approach and links to its research tools. Semantic similarity helps you discover texts; it does not itself establish authenticity or a legal ruling.

  2. Send a message

Open the Contact tab, choose a subject, enter your email address and write your message. Accept the required email-storage consent, then send. Wait for the success message before considering your enquiry delivered.

  3. Review privacy or report a passage

Open the Privacy policy tab to learn how data is handled. If an individual passage or chain is incorrect, use its Report an error action when available and describe the correction. Accept the report’s required consent before submitting.

If you need more help

  1. No matching results

Try a shorter phrase, broaden the selected books or types, and check diacritic matching. For an idea expressed in different words, try By meaning. For a spelling variation, try Discovery. Semantic groups can help you approach the subject from a related theme.

  2. Loading fails

Check your connection and use Try loading again when offered. If the problem persists, contact us with the page link, the action you tried and any visible error message so we can reproduce it.

  3. Saved items are missing

Check that you are using the browser and device where you saved them. Saved searches, bookmarks and preferences use local browser storage; another browser, private browsing or cleared site data can make them unavailable.
